Birds need feeding in bad weather

Birds need lots of support during harsh cold winters and this winter they need it more than ever.

The RSPB have a great page on their website explaining what you can feed birds. I’ve recently bought some bird seeds and lard and made my own bird cake and filled empty coconuts which I hung up in the trees. I’ve also put a few ordinary bird feeders out.

Our resident Robin certainly likes the bird feeder by the kitchen window.

He keeps coming back for more.

One of his favourite hiding places is in the Camilla bush where he can check out when it’s safe to pop out for more food.

So please remember to feed Britain’s birdlife this winter.
