New term at Oldham Coliseum Theatre

Oldham Coliseum Theatre has kick started the new term with a host of fantastic education activities including; an influential steering group, the chance to use technology for creativity, training for aspiring actors and writers, drama groups for 5 – 12 year olds and an arts and activities group for the over 50s.

Just take a look at what’s on offer:

Drama Daze

Drama Daze is an open group for anyone aged 5-12 yrs who wants to explore the theatre and get creative. Each term, the groups’ creatively explore a chosen theme, learn how to tell stories and make props, culminating in a performance for family and friends.

Age Groups: 5-7yrs, 4:15pm – 5:15pm and 8-12yrs, 5:30pm – 6:30pm

When: Thursdays during term time

Price: £40.00 per term

Play in a Week

Running from Monday-Friday during school holidays, PIAW offers children the chance to develop various styles of theatre skills through a diverse range of games and activities. This is a perfect way for children to increase their confidence and team building skills alongside the development of their drama skills.

Age Group: 8-12yrs

When: Monday –Friday during school holidays

Times: 10:00am – 4:30pm

TheatreLAB

TheatreLAB is for anyone interested in creativity, communication and performance. Participants will develop performance skills, explore new and exciting styles of theatre and get regular opportunities for performance.

Age Group: 13-25yrs

When: Mondays 6:30pm – 8:30pm

Price: FREE

DigiLAB

DigiLAB is for anyone interested in how new technologies can be used for communication, creativity and performance.

Members of the group with get a chance to actively influence how the Oldham Coliseum Theatre uses new technology in performance and develop platforms to support and market the theatre.

Age Group: 14-25yrs

When: Mondays 6:30pm – 8:30pm

Price: FREE

TheatreLAB and DigiLAB will work together to create and perform in a main stage production.

Pathways

Working either on a one-to-one basis or as a group Pathways offers professional theatre industry support and careers advice for young people.

Age Group: 14-25yrs

When: Wednesdays 5:00pm – 6:00pm

Price: FREE

The Steering Group (TGS)

Members of TGS will help the Coliseum increase the awareness, attendance and inclusion of young people. This is very unique opportunity to make some real changes to how the theatre operates.

Age Group: 11-25yrs

When: Usually on the second Monday of every month 5-6.30pm

Price: FREE

ActingLAB

ActingLAB is formal acting training through the exploration of a catalogue of theatre and drama techniques. The group provides the unique opportunity to explore modern theatre practice in a professional environment alongside qualified theatre practitioners, professional direction and a comprehensive team of production staff.

Age Group: 19yrs+

When: Tuesdays during term time 6:30pm – 8:30pm

Price: £65.00 per term

WritingLAB

WritingLAB is for aspiring writers who love theatre and writing but may not be quite sure where to start. Run by award-winning playwright, Billy Cowan, WritingLAB will help participants generate workable ideas, teach them how to structure a play, create three-dimensional characters, and write dynamic dialogue.

Age Group: 18yrs +

When: Wednesdays during term time 7:00pm – 9:00pm

Price: £55.00 per term

ReadIT

ReadIT is a friendly and informal group who get together fortnightly to read a wide variety of plays. As well as reading scripts members explore the play’s history and background and debate relevance and merit. This group is participant led and any member is welcome to suggest plays that they’d like the group to read.

Age Group: 18yrs+

When: Wednesdays during term time 7:00pm – 9:00pm

Price: FREE (Participant led)

Full Circle

Full Circle is a thriving, friendly and welcoming group for anyone aged 50+. The group comes together once a fortnight for a combination of talks, theatre and arts activities. In a warm and welcoming environment you will find opportunities to socialise and learn new things.

In the past members of Full Circle have written, directed and performed their own theatre productions, set up a community choir and visited other venues throughout the country.

Age Group: 50yrs+

When: Tuesdays fortnightly

Price: £2.00 – £4.00
